After a series of efforts, a group of people dedicated to project management in Costa Rica creates the PMI Costa Rica Chapter Association, on September 13, 2000. A year later, their efforts would be recognized by the Project Management Institute.

With its main objective to promote the practice of project management in the country, the Costa Rican Chapter facilitates the exchange of knowledge and experiences among members of the Chapter, as well as with other international chapters.

The focus of the institution is based on the principle of providing added value to the Chapter members through professional conferences, agreements, training, and certification of professionals in Project Management.

Its mission is to promote and facilitate the best practices in project management, as well as the exchange of experiences and professional knowledge, both locally and internationally, thus adding value to the social and business environment of Central America and the Caribbean.

Among its main activities, the PMI Chapter organizes the Central American and Caribbean Project Management Annual Congress (APCON).
